Pupil Premium
Swallownest Primary School receives a Pupil Premium Grant for each child who is entitled to receive Free School Meals or who has been entitled over the last six years, and for any Looked After Children or Service Children.
For the financial year 2021-22 the Pupil Premium was allocated to schools based on those pupils on roll in most recent census that are known to have been eligible for free school meals (FSM) on any pupil level census in the last six years. Pupil Premium was also allocated to children designated as Looked After and those children identified as being Service Children. The amount received in this financial year was £62,180. Funding is allocated to address the current underlying inequalities between disadvantaged pupils and their peers, by ensuring that funding reaches the pupils who need it most.
Principles
We ensure that teaching and learning opportunities meet the needs of all of the children at Swallownest Primary School.
We ensure that appropriate provision is made for children who belong to vulnerable groups, this includes ensuring that the needs of children entitled to Free School Meals and children who are Looked After are adequately assessed and addressed
Pupil premium funding will be allocated following a needs analysis which will identify priority classes, groups or individuals. Limited funding and resources means that not all children receiving free school meals will be in receipt of pupil premium interventions at one time
Provision
The range of provision the Governors consider include:
Increasing support staff in school thus improving opportunities for accelerating progress through targeted interventions
Providing small group work with an experienced teacher focused on overcoming gaps in learning
1:1 support
Additional teaching and learning opportunities provided through school based learning, external school partners and extended services.
All our work through the pupil premium is aimed at accelerating progress moving children to at least age related expectations. Initially in English and Maths but also ensuring a broad and balanced curriculum rich opportunities. The funding enables us to provide the extra support our children need in order that they reach their full potential.
